From food truck, to storefront, A Cupcake Social set up shop in an amazing transformation on the corner of 38th Street and 28th Avenue across from Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub. Cupcakes are their specialty but this bakery also makes their own ice-cream, an assortment of baked delights, coffee, and tea.
Owners Jess Stone and Suzette Herr loved the idea of how ice cream socials brought people together and wanted their shop to serve as a destination for private parties and craft gatherings. Jess shared,“Doing birthday parties for children has been so much fun! Children get to tour the kitchen to learn how commercial kitchens work, each child gets their own little apron, and then we teach the group how to do fun decorative frosting designs like flowers.” Educational, interactive, and tasty. All this plus a posh environment makes for a very special party.
Owners of A Cupcake Social were familiar with the neighborhood from Jess Stone’s work as a Realtor. “I love this neighborhood, the area is going through a major transformation and neighbors are incredibly active and welcoming.”
When the owners of A Cupcake Social were searching for where to set up shop in July of 2013, they saw the property which was then a barber shop, print shop, and beauty salon. “With my experience as a Realtor, I was able to see past the years of mishmashes remodels and see the bones of a beautiful, 1920’s brick building in a great location.” A complete overhaul of the business space began in October and A Cupcake Social opened its doors on December 18, 2013.

The beautiful 1920 brick storefront once had big windows but had been covered up over the years.
The new windows offer a sunny space to relax and for the little ones to play in their own kitchen.
This summer, watch for more improvements including custom window awnings and restored antique light fixtures sure to give even more curb appeal to the space.
A Cupcake Social is open Monday through Saturday, with Sundays available for private events including children’s birthday parties.
